Durango hookup, recommended homes for you
This was our second stay in 2 years.
This is definitely a family friendly place. We had trees, but our satellite found south.
The sites are fairly close together, but it didn't pose a problem. Note to allergy sufferers - the numerous cottonwood trees in the park were in full bloom, showering the park with pollen. No fires allowed due to being in a valley. Year round outdoor activities include mountain biking, rock climbing, hiking, rafting, kayaking, horseback riding, hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, snowboarding, and downhill skiing in the two-million acres of the San Juan National Forest.
The bathrooms were clean, but we didn't use the showers, so can't remark on those. There is a creek running through the park pretty fast water and plenty of trees. Lightner Creek Campground was quite full, but not completely booked.

Hesperus is a tiny community outside Durango; its "ski hill" is lit for night skiing and there's a tubing hill for kids. Some of the sites have more trees.
The site we stayed in was relatively level and had a picnic table.
We had our 2 dogs, but didn't take advantage of the fenced in dog area since there was a big, friendly dog inside and we have a puppy who we didn't want to get mowed over. We didn't have kids, but if you do, this is a great spot as there were plenty of them running around, riding bikes, playing, etc.
The staff is so sweet and helpful! If that sounds like something you'd want, you might want to ask ahead of time to ensure you get one.
The famous Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad is Durango hookup country's only coal-and-steam-powered train operating daily with round trips to Silverton; chugging along sheer cliffs, criss-crossing the Animas River on its' 45 mile trip. Offer is good from May 1st thru May 24th. We had Durango hookup site by the creek with a deck, furniture and a propane grill!
This year's stay was in mid June. Enjoy a quiet, intimate visit to a secluded mountain valley, home to one of Colorado's largest lakes at an elevation of 8, feet. We walked around the park and there are some great tent sites along the water Being an older campground, it doesn't have the new facilities, concrete pads, etc.
Lemon Lake is also a fun place to boat, sail and wind surf. Spend your days fishing in Vallecito Lake, horseback riding in the surrounding wilderness and exploring nearby Durango. It is a mile and a half off the road, so very quiet.
We reserved our spot that morning.
