Bungie has a history of excellent world-building, and Destiny is a powerful expression of that excellence. It is far more readable, and the painful loading screens that bisected every activity are gone.
You'll face four different races over the course of your journey, and their armies are each diverse and interesting. Its best content in the mid-game and beyond is betrayed by a reward economy that nudges you instead toward a vacuous treadmill made of public events, and which truncates the endgame.
It is a shame, as Leviathan is the most ambitious raid in the series yet: Titan, Hunter and Warlock. It is a risky choice for a loot-driven game; there is a lot of content in Destiny 2, but not so much that Bungie can afford to weaken incentives to re-run the raid.
Since its launch on PC in October, players have also groused about its strict communication rules: What modes are there? Exit Theatre Mode Consistently excellent music magnifies that sensation, deftly driving the action forward during big firefights, and conveying a sense of wonder and mystery in between them.

Destiny 2 seems to want you to feel empowered, not challenged. The magnificent soundtrack also comes to the fore during the campaign, raising goosebumps as it swells in sync with gameplay. Imagine the horror of trying to get six random Plunkbatters to coordinate with each other at any level beyond howling insults.
A Class By Any Other Name…
You can create a custom character, explore planets, unravel a story, team up Dating ahmednagar friends and compete against the world. They are what you should expect. I only know what the Pyramidion is like because Bungie picked it to show at the PC preview event - I had never played it before, despite having maxed a character on PlayStation 4.
Is Destiny anything like Halo?
They even both give you a robotic companion to aid you on your journey; Halo has the iconic A. It is a shame, then, that said gameplay rarely matches the sights and sounds enfolding it.

Exit Theatre Mode Destiny's intelligently designed combat areas provide excellent opportunities to leverage those options. You can also complete public events - quick challenges that nearby players can join. Factor in all the caves, temples, and other structures housed within, and there's a ton of ground to cover.
The sequel is a definite improvement, but just because it clears a low bar does not mean it is any good by normal standards. I love that about it.
Varied classes add another tactical layer, but the game is not built around their synergies, as in Overwatch. Bungie designed destiny to be a living, breathing open world, which means you'll often bump into strangers when you're tacking story missions or exploring a new planet.
And no, I will not sit in the strike playlist until it pops up, because I do not want to be a dick and leave when it hands me The Inverted Spire yet-a-freaking-gain. This is one of many ways in which Destiny 2 is more casual-friendly.

Built atop that is a sprawling game that cribs many different ideas in a bid to offer something to everyone. Sadly, none of that keeps Destiny from becoming the latest example of the friction between open-world design, and tightly directed narrative.
The Art of War Destiny retains the fluid, tactical feel of the Halo series, but with an increased sense of speed and mobility that make its firefights feel more dynamic than those of its direct FPS ancestor. In fact, the exceptional caliber of its moment-to-moment gameplay is what partially excuses the fact that it never quite realizes its grand design.
